About Safari Serengeti
The Serengeti, Tanzania's most celebrated national park and one of Africa's oldest and most revered wildlife ecosystems, is the setting for the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth and an absolutely essential destination for any serious safari traveler. Spanning over 14,750 square kilometers of seemingly endless golden savanna, acacia woodland, and kopje-studded plains in northern Tanzania, the Serengeti is home to the largest concentration of large mammals on the planet and offers safari experiences of extraordinary quality and variety throughout the entire year. The park's defining event — the Great Wildebeest Migration — is widely regarded as one of the natural wonders of the world: every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, undertake a treacherous circular journey of over 1,800 kilometers across the Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara in search of fresh grazing, facing predators at every stage including lion prides, leopards, cheetahs, hyena clans, and most dramatically, enormous Nile crocodiles waiting in the churning waters of the Mara River during the legendary river crossings between July and October. Yet the Serengeti delivers unforgettable safari experiences in every season: the calving season from January to March, when over 500,000 wildebeest calves are born on the southern short-grass plains, brings extraordinary predator activity and some of the most dramatic wildlife encounters in Africa. The park's Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros — are all present, alongside cheetahs, wild dogs, giraffes, and countless bird species. From intimate tented bush camps under a sky blazing with stars, to luxurious permanent lodges with infinity pools overlooking the plains, the Serengeti offers the complete spectrum of African safari accommodation. A Serengeti safari combined with a visit to the neighboring Ngorongoro Crater — a caldera of almost incomprehensible wildlife density — represents the pinnacle of East Africa travel.
